Painter, Graphic Artist, Sculptor and Photographer
Charles Kamangwana was born in Zimbabwe in 1972, and trained at the BAT Visual Arts Studios in Harare from 1992-94. He has exhibited extensively in Zimbabwe (Gallery Delta, Pierre Gallery, Mutupo Gallery, Harare National Art Gallery, Bulawayo National Art Gallery) and in the Zimbabwe Heritage Exhibitions (1993-98).
In 1993, Kamangwana received an Award of Merit (Graphics) and a Highly Commended Certificate (Photography). In 1995, he received a BOC Award of Merit (Metal Sculpture); an Award of Merit (Painting) and another Award of Merit (Young Artist of Promise). In 1996, he won an Award of Merit and a Highly Commended Certificate (Graphics), and in 1997 an Award of Merit and two Highly Commended Certificates.
Kamangwana has work displayed in Seattle and at the Portland Graphics Show in Oregon in the USA, Art-Porto Gallery in Finland, Bingen in Germany, CBK Visual Art Center in The Netherlands, and in various galleries throughout France, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Kamangwana currently lives in “the avenues” in Harare.
